Most heating and cooling systems still use a basic disposable type air filter. These filters were originally designed to protect the equipment and not the people served by the equipment. The average air filter is only capable of removing 3 - 5% of the particles that pass through it. Today, however, there are several types of permanent air filters available in various efficiencies that can help you filter the air in your home. If you suffer from allergies, asthma, hay fever or other breathing difficulties, there is an air filter that can help you. We can even provide you with the same type of air filter used in hospital operating rooms.
For customers with standard disposable type filters, Bartlett Heating and Cooling replaces disposable filters with pleated style filters with a MERV of 8.
Many customers have an air cleaner, like the April Aire featured in the middle picture. This type of air cleaner uses a media type filter that generally replaced once a year. April Aire air cleaners can trap mold and pollen spores (3-10 Microns) with an efficiency of 85% - 99%, depending on the model you choose. View Brochure of April Aire air cleaners.
A "Bartlett Best" air cleaner option is the Infinity Air Purifier. Not only does the Infinity Air Purifier capture pathogens on the filter (like typical systems), but it has germicidal technology that it also kills pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and mold. This filter does not make "zapping" noises like many electronic air cleaners do. The Infinity Air Purifier has a MERV 15, which indicates that the filter achieves 85-95% efficiency for even the smallest particles tested.
